KNOLL, POLTRONA FRAU, AND CASSINA SALES ENDING SOON!

Time is running out for our stimulus package! (It's already a cliché, we know, but we’ll stick with it for consistency's sake.)  The economy is looking up, and the great confluence of sales is about to end. The final day of the Knoll sale is Saturday, May 9.  Also, Poltrona Frau’s landmark 20% off event ends on Monday, May 11, and the Cassina Quick sale ends on Friday, May 15.  Click here for more information, and don’t forget about the Herman Miller sale coming up in June!

Centro is pleased to announce that the Duane Reed Gallery is returning to the Central West End after nine years in its Clayton location.  Representing internationally recognized artists—Dale Chihuly, Michael Eastman and Marvin Lipofsky among others—Duane Reed is one of the premier galleries in the Midwest.  We’re thrilled that they’ll be right next door at 4729 McPherson (Centro's original retail location).  The inaugural show in the new space will feature works by John McQueen and Michael Janis.  The show opens on Friday, May 15, 2009 with a reception from 6 – 9 pm. "When in April the sweet showers fall ... people long to go on pilgrimages."  Or something like that.  Canterbury, however, is no longer the destination of choice, at least not in 21st century design circles.  Every April, designers, journalists, students, retailers, and assorted other pilgrims from every corner of the globe converge upon Milan to see and scrutinize the newest designs at Salone del Mobile, also known as the Milan Furniture Fair.  Those who can’t make it in person, of course, have myriad online resources to help them keep up.  This year, our top pick for fair coverage is Wallpaper magazine’s Salone del Mobile 2009 page .  Even though the fair officially ended on April 27, coverage of some products is still trickling in, so check back for more news.  Also, keep an eye on our Virtual Showroom for new 2009 introductions such as the innovative Vegetal Chair by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra (shown).
